En el año 2017 dos incendios intencionales en el predio del club y escuela de canotaje EcoDeportes destruyen por completo el refugio y todo el equipamiento del mismo. Se trataba de una asociación que durante años difundió el deporte náutico en nuestra ciudad, brindando cursos de kayakismo y organizando travesías en el Onashaga (Canal Beagle). A raíz de este acontecimiento la asociación ve interrumpida su actividad. La continuidad del club es incierta y debido a la falta de actividad y recursos, finalmente la asociación civil es disuelta. Sin embargo un grupo de socios y socias deciden hacer un último esfuerzo por recuperar lo perdido y así poder continuar llevando adelante la tarea de acercar el kayakismo a la sociedad fueguina. Así comienza un largo camino para recuperar el predio municipal donde el club desarrollaba sus actividades. El proyecto cuenta con el apoyo de la Secretaria de Cultura de la provincia de Tierra del Fuego AeIAS ya que fue ganador del concurso de producción de cortometrajes documentales 2021, el cual permitió financiar parte de la producción.
In 2017, two intentional fires on the grounds of the EcoDeportes boating club and school completely destroyed the refuge and all its equipment. It was an association that for years spread water sports in our city, offering kayaking courses and organizing trips on the Onashaga (Beagle Channel). As a result of this event, the association saw its activity interrupted. The continuity of the club was uncertain and due to the lack of activity and resources, the civil association was finally dissolved. However, a group of partners decide to make one last effort to recover what was lost and thus be able to continue carrying out the task of bringing kayaking closer to Fuegian society. Thus begins a long road to recover the municipal property where the club developed its activities. At the same time, they carry out various actions in order to raise the necessary funds to meet the costs involved in forming a club and recovering its infrastructure.
The project has the support of the Secretary of Culture of the province of Tierra del Fuego AeIAS since it was the winner of the 2021 documentary short film production contest, which allowed part of the production to be financed.
